Our two-year Ihsan Arabic course is open to anyone who can read the Arabic script. We offer group classes, with Ella and Sophie teaching the women and Habib teaching the men.

What you’ll get

    In your first lesson, you meet your teacher (Ella, Habib or Sophie) along with the other students in your cohort.

    Every week, you’ll attend a live 1-hour lesson and complete a further hour of self-study.

    There are 6 levels which take you through the fundamentals of Arabic grammar and communication. Each level lasts 15 weeks.

What you’ll learn

The Standard Arabic (fus-ha) that this course teaches will benefit students who wish to talk to people in Arabic-speaking countries, understand Arabic texts and media or study the language of the Qur’an.

The Level 1 Syllabus

If you know how to read the Arabic script, Level 1 is the perfect starting point. You’ll learn your first 100 Arabic words and study a range of grammar topics.

Communicative Arabic

Ihsan Arabic courses focus on communicative Arabic. By the end of Level 1, students will be able to hold a 10 to 15 minute conversation in Arabic.

Frequently asked questions

  • Our classes are conducted via Zoom. You will need a laptop, pen & paper and a stable internet connection. It is not advisable to take lessons on your phone.

  • The classes are all recorded and made available online. This way, you can easily catch up if you happen to miss a week.

  • Besides the one-hour weekly class, students will need to put aside another 1-2 hours weekly for their Arabic studies if they wish to make substantial progress. This includes 10 minutes a day of vocabulary study, as well as the completion of weekly homework.

  • Email us at hello@ihsan-arabic.com and we will send you a placement quiz to complete.

  • Upon completing a course, you will be invited to progress to the next level after a short break.

  • The course fee can be split into three interest-free instalments via PayPal. We also offer full and partial scholarships (email us at hello@ihsan-arabic.com for more information).

  • You should be able to confidently and fluently read the Arabic script. If you are not at that stage, then get in touch separately and we can set up reading lessons.
